Accounts Manager

Rutherford Briant are looking for an Accounts Manager to be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and carry out all aspects of statutory accounts work by managing a team in respect of this.
In addition, you will be required to attend networking events, be involved in pitching for new work and in assisting the Partners to grow the business.
Core Responsibilities
- Planning jobs and liaising with the client to consider both their needs and the key areas relating to the assignment.
- Liaising with the appropriate Tax Manager to ensure that any tax related matters are known and advising when the assignment will be ready for a tax review.
- Ensure appropriate staff resources are available including liaising with other managers
- Consider use of outsourcing versus jobs being done in-house
- Preparing the budget and timing and sign off with the client ensuring these are adhered to
- Managing the assignment lifecycle as it proceeds, delegating and reviewing work of staff to ensure that standards are met.
- Providing timely feedback to partners on issues identified with clients and producing a high-quality complete file with mínimal review points
- Additional client work as may be necessary
- Identifying additional potential business revenue for the Firm and explore these with the client
Management Responsibilities
- Ensure team is technically up to date and ensure Institute CPD requirements are met
- Team management from trainees up to senior level
- Ensure pre-assignment briefing sessions held with team members
- Carry out on site reviews with staff during assignments and ongoing communication with team whilst out on site
- Manage team performance and development to ensure high quality work submitted at all times and ensure timely feedback given to team members feeding back to Partners regularly on overall team development.
- Ensuring all policies and procedures are followed by self and all team members
- Ensure milestones, probationary reviews and annual appraisals carried out on time
- Sign off daily timesheets for team members
- Provide support to Apprentices with portfolio aspects of their training
Practice Development/Other
- Identify training needs and follow up via HR
- Attend networking events and identify opportunities for business growth
- Carry out pitches to potential clients
- Any other duties as maybe required for the execution of the role
- Qualified ACA/ACCA with good technical competence.
- Proven experience of Statutory accounts and management accounts within Practice essential
- VAT knowledge
- Demonstrable experience managing a client portfolio
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English to a high standard
- Strong people management skills.
- Strong organisational skills
- Strong IT skills with experience with Xero, Caseware, Sage and CCH an advantage
