**Job Description**:
We seek a Global Head of Solar Energy Research to join Wood Mackenzie’s Power & Renewables team. The Power & Renewables research team is a highly respected group of experts producing market-best research on the entire renewable energy value chain and power industry.

The Global Head of Solar is responsible for setting our research agenda, driving high-quality research and idea generation, serving as the public face of Wood Mackenzie on solar industry issues, and driving our strategy in solar and our commercial success. This includes identifying emerging themes impacting customers and the industry and ensuring Wood Mackenzie develops responsive research in its insight and data. The Global Head of Solar is also responsible for influencing our product development and acquisitions strategy, identifying future growth opportunities, and contributing to consulting projects.

The Global Head of Solar will work closely with the Power & Renewables team and the solar experts embedded within our regional teams.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Set the solar research agenda - identifying all emerging themes that will impact customers, helping progress the energy transition, ensuring our datasets and written research are of high quality, helping us achieve commercial success, and, most importantly, answering customers’ most pressing questions.
Take commercial ownership of our solar services, ensuring our research aligns with customer needs, maintain and build new sources of differentiation, and identify and pursue growth opportunities.
- Establish an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the solar and power industry.
- Develop thought-provoking research that questions conventional wisdom and generates new insights for industry participants.
- Serve as a thought leader in helping to develop our regional and global narratives that bring together our research across power market supply/demand economics, regulatory dynamics, technology drivers, and company strategies.
- Identify the datasets and sources of data necessary to support our underlying analysis and ensure we have proper quality control in developing those datasets.
- Support consulting engagements related to solar energy as needed.

**Qualifications**:

- Successful teammates in Wood Mackenzie’s Power & Renewables practice are thoughtful, intellectually curious, creative, and comfortable presenting to public audiences and interacting with small and large groups of executives.
- As our Global Head of Solar, you have already developed a reputation as an industry thought leader and have deep expertise on the solar supply chain, market dynamics, and policies affecting the solar industry. In addition, you have excellent verbal and written communication skills and can engage an audience and mentor your team members.
- You have an analytical mindset and an eye for detail, proven by your work experience. Therefore, you are comfortable taking complex, disparate ideas and distilling them into simple, provocative concepts.
- You are a natural self-starter who can work independently and generate the ideas you want to share by leveraging and expanding your industry network. In addition, you are comfortable disrupting your routine as you constantly look to learn and provide in-depth analysis of industry trends and innovative market dynamics.
- Finally, you are also effective at guiding teams, mentoring your team members, shaping them into future thought leaders, and helping them grow in their careers.

**Knowledge, Experience, and Skills**
- Ten plus years of experience in the power industry, with at least five focused on renewable energy.
- Deep understanding of global solar industry trends, setbacks, opportunities, and a good network of contacts.
