About the role
Cambridgeshire County Council Targeted Support Service provides support to children, young people and their families aged 0-25. Targeted Support Service’s consist of Family Workers, Young People’s worker’s, Senior Transitions Advisors, Transitions Advisors and managers. A district Targeted Support Service provides early intervention support to reduce the risk of harm, to support with keeping families together, and to support children and young people achieve positive outcomes.

The role of Young People’s Worker (YPW) is an exciting, varied and highly skilled role aiming to offer Young People aged 12- 19 with intensive 1-1 support to enable them to reach positive outcomes in their life. As a YPW, you will primarily support an individual young person, however, will exercise a whole family approach in order to analyse how the support provided impacts not only the young person, but their family as well.

Interviews will be held at Noble House, Ely on the 21st February 2023

What will you be doing?
You will support a caseload of Young People who require help to achieve positive outcomes within their life. You will provide targeted intervention to support with a range of risks/needs including (but not exhaustive to); Child sexual and criminal exploitation, Healthy Relationships, at risk of exclusion from education, County lines, and anti-social behaviour.

You will complete Early Help Assessments, act as the Lead Professional for the young person, work in partnership with the multi-agency team around the family and provide tailored, targeted intervention that enables young people to achieve positive outcomes.

You will lead on the organisation, planning and delivery of evidence-based group work programmes that aim to support young people with topics such as; emotional resilience, risk taking behaviour, healthy relationships and more. You will also support the delivery of parenting programmes delivered to parents of teenagers.

- You will be willing approachable, personable, and able to build a positive rapport with young people and their families.
- You will be willing to continue your professional development through informal and formal training.

Skills and Experience:

- You will have a good knowledge and understanding of the issues facing young people and their families, and the support service in place to help them achieve positive outcomes.
- You will have a good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding requirements, duty of care, and legislation relating to support Young people and their families, including that of legislation regarding Raising of the Participation Age.
- You will have good communication skills using a variety of formats and will work efficiently within a multi
- agency environment.
- You will have the ability to produce, keep and maintain good case recording, reports, and assessments.
