Assistant HR Advisor

To support the Human Resources department in providing high quality service to customers. To provide advice and guidance and support to managers and employees on a range of generic HR matters including discipline, grievance, capability, recruitment, restructures,management of attendance and terms and conditions of employment.
Customers include Strategic Directors, Directors, Service Directors, Heads of Service, Managers, Head teachers, External organisations, Partners and all levels of employee.
**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Respond and resolve queries that require HR advice and guidance. Ensure that advice adheres to employment law, HR policies, processes and business need. Where appropriate forward unresolved queries to HR Advisors.
- Support HR Advisors in a diverse work programme of complex cases i.e. disciplinary, grievance, capability and management attendance.
- Provide advice, guidance and support to managers in the delivery of recruitment campaigns.
- Assist HR Advisors with providing advice, guidance and support to managers in the overall delivery of restructures, from pre-consultation, through to dismissal if required.
- Assist HR Advisors with supporting managers with the compilation of reports for disciplinary, grievance, capability, management attendance and appeal hearings.
- Support HR development projects as and when required.
- Undertake a range of administrative duties to support the efficient delivery of HR Services
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with managers and colleagues across the council.
- Promote a professional HR Service by providing consistent and credible HR support and advice.
- Contribute to coaching and mentoring of managers to ensure consistent delivery of HR processes across the organisation.
- Contribute to the production of HR Standard Operating procedures and review of HR operational processes.
- Maintaining HR systems and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Undertake a HR a Intermediate Diploma in HR Management and/or Post Graduate Diploma in HRM
- To act in accordance with the Council's Constitution and other Codes of Conduct.
- To participate in staff development, appraisal and training as appropriate, including continuous professional development.
- To comply with the Council's agreed policies and procedures including but not limited to Health and Safety, and Equal Opportunities Policies, the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act, Financial Management Regulations and other relevant Counciland Government Regulations, Directives and City-wide priorities.
- To participate in the wider development of the service and contribute to service improvement as required.
