Medical Retina Coordinator

The role of the IV/MR Co-ordinator is to ensure the smooth running of the IV clinics currently at the Queen Mary’s and Orpington site in the Ophthalmology department. To plan ahead and liaise with colleagues to ensure that capacity of the clinic meets demand. The post holder will work closely with the administration team and the nursing team and will be responsible for ensuring all clinics are prepped and up to date in a timely fashion. In addition the post holder will be responsible for ensuring all patients have follow up appointments are made in a timely fashion.
- Ensure high standards of data entry and quality are achieved and sustained across the MR Service and all injection services, in both paper and electronic record-keeping.
- Develop and implement action plans to ensure delivery of services in line with Medical Retina service initiating change as appropriate to ensure achievement of objectives delivering an efficient and patient-centred care
- Be accountable for measuring outcomes and for reaching these targets and presenting information to the Medical Retina Management team.
- Coordinate the patient journey through the ophthalmology unit, arranging appointments, communication and provision of information to patients.
- Liaise with pharmacy regarding patient appointments and treatment start dates to ensure the service operates efficiently and safely
- Liaise with Ophthalmology management, GP surgeries and external health organisations as necessary
- Ensure that the appointments are recorded in line with the Trust policy.
- Ensure adherence to the Trust’s Access Policy at all times.
- Monitor intervals for treatment on a weekly basis and escalating issues to the Service Manager. Work with the Service Manager to manage capacity and patient waiting times in the service.
- Ensure that clinics are planned and prepared at least a week in advance matching capacity to available resources through liaison with nursing and clinical staff.
- Ensure that new injection patients are booked for their first three treatment appointments.
