**Role Summary**

The University of Birmingham is looking to recruit a Wellbeing Officer for the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

The Student Wellbeing Officer is a member of the College Professional Services Team and provides proactive and professional wellbeing support to students within their designated School(s).

The main responsibilities for the role will include:

- Providing wellbeing advice and guidance to students following referral e.g. by a member of academic staff or by student self-referral;
- Making referrals as appropriate to specialist services in the University, and signposting to external support services;Acting as the Reasonable Adjustment Coordinator for the School(s);
- Contributing to and supporting induction of new and returning students to the University;
Working as part of a wider team of Professional Services and Academic staff, the post holder will provide comprehensive support to students within their College. The post holder will be expected to contribute to other areas (as and when required) in support of their School and College strategic priorities.

**Main Duties**

Every student in the School has a personal tutor or supervisor who is a member of academic staff. Personal Tutors/Supervisors establish working relationships with students that enable students to disclose personal problems that may affect their work or experience general study difficulties. These difficulties are often dealt with effectively by Personal Tutors/Supervisors. However, some difficulties may require detailed understanding of a range of wellbeing and study-related problems and services, or require more time than academic staff are able to commit.

**Primary Contact for Student Support**
- Personal Tutors/Supervisors will refer such students through to the Wellbeing Officer, duties and expectations will include:

- Primary Contact for Student Support
- To be accessible and available to students, holding regular and timetabled office hours.
- Providing helpful, accurate and expert advice to students as the Schools’ primary contact for matters relating to student support. We anticipate that the Wellbeing Officer will be able to resolve some problems him/herself; others will need to be refe
