**About us**:
The Lake District National Park Authority looks after this unique corner of England, encouraging people to enjoy and understand its beauty and helping those who live and work here. Our staff include rangers and field workers, advisers at our visitor centres, planners and more. We also host around 500 volunteers who make a vital contribution to the work of looking after the National Park in a large variety of roles. We’re looking for someone to join the small friendly team who support and enable those volunteers.

**About the role**:
This role will coordinate our volunteer visitor management programme alongside developing and coordinating opportunities for volunteering with our Visitor Services teams. The teams this role will support will include our award winning Brockhole-on-Windermere Visitor Centre team, who manage a range of activities, the beautiful listed house and gardens, a busy café, shop and restaurant; our Coniston Boating Centre; our Information Centres based across the Lakes; and also our Visitor Management team.

You will be based at Brockhole-on-Windermere but will also spend time at our head office at Murley Moss, Kendal, to work closely with other members of the Volunteers Coordination Team and the Visitor Services management team. To broaden our ability to support opportunities for all, there will be some evening and weekend working involved in this role, and you may find it useful to be able to flex the days you work from time to time.

We’re set up for hybrid working and can accommodate some working from home and from other locations across the National Park. You’ll be provided with a laptop to enable you to access our secure IT network when working remotely. We’re also happy to talk flexible patterns of work.
- The main duties and responsibilities will be:

- Working with Visitor Services managers to develop and coordinate opportunities to volunteer with our businesses and commercial sites
- Work with the Head of Visitor Services and Communications and the Visitor Management team to manage Visitor Management volunteering across the summer season at locations throughout the Park
- Work to provide a strong and rewarding volunteer experience supporting excellent visitor experience in the National Park.

**About you**:
We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate significant people and communication skills and be confident in working with and supporting people from a wide range of backgrounds. Experience in volunteer management is essential, as the post holder will directly or indirectly supervise approximately up to 100 volunteers in different roles. As the role has clear focus areas, an ability to effectively plan and prioritise a varied workload will be important.
