**Purpose of the role**

Primarily to support the management teams based in Basingstoke and, more widely, support HR colleagues and management teams based in Swansea and London. Divisions covered by this role include MDL and MPIL (Shared Services/ Finance/ Royalties/ Archive/IT/Mac Learning). Providing a high quality and professional HR service, advising and supporting on a range of HR issues whilst adhering to appropriate policies and procedures, ensuring that employment law and best practice are followed.

**Need to Do**
- Understand the different business divisions, locations and differences in the culture, processes, and policies.
- Support the management team with all site absence issues- Ensure all absences using 'triggers’ as specified in the MDL Sickness Absence procedure for MDL staff, are identified and managed effectively, referring to occupational health as needed. This includes ensuring all supporting and procedural documentation is accurately recorded, provided, and updated in a timely manner
- Support the HR Advisor in Swansea - work together to review the absence tracker and KPI’s, analysing and identify trends, problems within areas and action as appropriate with guidance from the Head of HR
- Update and maintain information on the HR systems, including ensuring the accuracy of supporting documentation in personnel files
- Provide advice and support to managers on a range of HR processes to ensure that they manage their staff following best practice and company policies and procedures. This includes identifying and resolving issues, organising, attending, and documenting meetings with staff.- HR processes include grievance, disciplinary, absence management, time and attendance, family-friendly policies (maternity/paternity/flexible working etc), and assisting with recruitment.
- Ensure that, by working and liaising with the wider HR team, advice, support, and practice is consistent and equitably applied.
- Support the wider HR team traveling to other sites on occasion when needed
- Source, create, and on occasion deliver training and coaching to managers in respect of HR processes with support from the Head of HR
- Manage and provide accurate payroll information, ensure that payroll deadlines are strictly adhered to
- Work closely and build relationships with the Line Managers to influence the adoption of best practice management techniques and adherence to HR policies and procedures.
