This exciting role is ideal for someone with experience in the Learning Disabilities and Autism care sector, who is looking to move into a day service setting or somebody who wants to take on a new challenge.

My Day Care Services operate across Taunton and Bridgwater. We provide day care services for Adults with Learning Disabilities and Autistic people. We have multiple different ‘micro-teams’ and work in small groups or on a 1-2-1 basis.

We are a dynamic and forward-thinking team, constantly developing and endeavouring to provide excellent and person-centred care services to adults across Somerset.

As a member of our Team, you will be part of making a difference, every day. Providing outstanding support to adults with a range of disabilities, and emotional and physical support needs.

We strive to enable our clients to make choices, be as independent as possible, and facilitate an environment where they can be safe, happy, and learn and develop skills and friendships.

You will work on the floor with a range of clients, being part of sessions which take place either within the Hub or in the community. As a Support Worker, you will work in a small team under the Hub’s Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader.

As a support worker, you will be responsible for:

- Supporting the Team Leader & Deputy Team Leader in the day to day running of the Hub
- Facilitating physical, recreational, social and educational activities within our Hubs and within the community.
- Providing person-centred care and support to our wide range of clients
- Be involved in daily transport routes, dropping off and picking up students
- Participate in group planning and help develop individual activity plans which focus on person-centred support
- Interpret and put into place clients’ support plans

We are looking for someone who:

- A ‘can do’ attitude
- A positive thinker with excellent initiative skills
- A team player who is motivated and has a good work ethic
- A role model with good professionalism and communication skills
- Has IT skills including a basic knowledge of Mac and Windows operating systems, along with a range of Microsoft 365 products such as Word and Excel.
- A person-centred and engaging carer who is passionate about promoting independence and empowering people
- Has great organisation and coordination skills, is able to stay calm and professional in all situations
- Understanding safeguarding processes

You will need:

- To be able to lone work on occasions
- Previous experience in the Day Services sector, supporting Adults with Learning Disabilities is desirable
- A full manual UK driving license, held for over two years.
- A confident driver who is willing to drive 9 seat MPV’s.
- To be physically fit as this role involves some manual handling, outdoor physical activities including but not limited to swimming, walking, and cycling.
