Job Purpose

To work as a member of a team providing both a planned and responsive maintenance service.

Roles and Responsibilities

Planned and Reactive Maintenance
- Carry out reactive maintenance in accordance with the Service Level Agreement and provide front line response
- Ensure that the environment is maintained in accordance with the Service Level Agreement, including keeping the site clean by litter picking on a daily basis and when required clearing snow and ice from pathways and putting down grit
- Assist with the moving of refuse, white goods, mattresses and furniture in a safe manner
- Statutory Testing
- Assist with statutory testing including fire alarm testing, fire extinguisher, fire blanket and fire detector checks, water temperature monitoring, shower head cleaning and emergency lighting checks

Health and Safety
- Report any Health and Safety issues relating to the residence ensuring all information is passed to the relevant Manager(s)

Other
- Undertake training as required
- Be prepared to work as and when the need arises, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends
- Other duties as commensurate with the post
- Person Specification

Experience
- Previously worked within a maintenance environment
- Previously worked within an education maintenance environment

Skills/Knowledge/

Ability
- Understanding of the operational procedures and safe working practices of building services and systems
- Good understanding of health and safety, with the ability to understand how to work in a safe manner

Education/

**Qualifications**:

- GCSE / O Level Mathematics and English or equivalent
- General maintenance NVQ qualifications

Personal Qualities
- Good communication and customer care skills
- Proactive approach to problem solving
- Capable of working with minimum supervision
- Work as a team player and pass on knowledge to others
- Work under your own initiative with good organisational skills.
- Flexible and willing
- Prepared to work out of hours this will include weekends
- Prepared to travel to other sites within the Company, if required
- Possess a current valid driving licence
