**About the role**:
The Train Fueller/Tanker Operative is a great opportunity for someone who thrives on providing high standards. On an average day, you’ll work across all areas of our TrainCare Centre to complete a variety of tasks including train preparation, for example fuelling of the units, checking fluid (Fuel, Water etc), removal of effluent from the Controlled Emission Toilet (CET), front end cleaning and where required removal of graffiti on the exterior of the vehicle, ensuring unit is safe to enter passenger service.
- In this role, you’ll work with the Reception Supervisor to make sure that any trains, requiring to be cleaned and serviced to the Northern standard expected from both our customers and other stakeholders. You’ll play a vital part in helping us get people where they need to go. You’ll also work alongside an experienced team, who will support you in developing your career and skills.

**Key responsibilities**:
This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include:

- Supporting the safe movement of trains around our TrainCare Centre to ensure your safety and others around you
- Reception fuelling our units to keep them in service
- Chemical Effluent Tank (CET) emptying, tanking reservations.
- General cleaning activities throughout Neville Hill TrainCare Centre
- Winterisation tasks on site, such as gritting in winter and point clearing in severe weather
- Carrying out Designated Persons duties, ensuring the safe protection of all depot personnel whilst working on rail vehicles throughout the site
- Operate depot protection systems as the designated person responsible for setting up the safe system of work on depot
- The role will also be responsible for carrying out other duties, once you are singed off as competent, on the reception roads for all depot customers.

To fulfil this role effectively your biggest strength will need to be a genuine commitment to delivering excellent customer service. You will be an excellent communicator and team player who can liaise and work effectively with colleagues and managers to maintain standards.
- We expect you to be reliable, dedicated, and hard working to ensure that cleaning is carried out to the highest standards. Full training will be given for all duties involved in the role. You must be be willing to work outside throughout the year. You’ll also be flexible enough to deal with ever-changing requirements and be proactive where possible.
- You should also be able to demonstrate the following:

- A natural pride in your work and a keen eye for detail
- The ability to understand and follow instructions
- Good team working skills
- High level of literacy
- Be flexible and adaptable to efficiently move between duties with the ability to think of your feet in sometimes challenging situations
- We’ll provide you with training to help you thrive in this role, but it would be beneficial if you already had COSHH training or similar
