**What you’ll be doing as a Community Engagement Officer**

The role will be part of the Thames Water Strategic Resource Option (SRO) organisation, which is responsible for the development of several projects to improve drought resilience and minimise interruptions to water supplies in the South-East whilst protecting the environment. These projects may include a new reservoir and transfer projects between different river catchments.

You will engage and communicate with local communities during the design and planning of one of these projects - to keep them informed, help build trust and understanding, and gather feedback which can be used to inform the project proposals.
- Support the Community Engagement Manager with wider project stakeholder engagement as required.
- Help coordinate engagement campaigns, including events and large mailouts.
- Find ways to engage and communicate empathetically with people affected by proposals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local communities, including local residents, local businesses and specific interest groups.
- Keep records of local engagement and share specific feedback with project colleagues to inform the development of project proposals.

**What you should bring to the role**
- Experience in an engagement role
- Strong communication skills - written and verbal.
- Able to multi-task and work flexibly to manage conflicting priorities
- Able to work well within team and support co-workers
- Be able to travel within the patch to support project activities
- Be flexible and resilient to deal with project challenges
- Experience working on infrastructure or construction projects
- Experience of working with a range of stakeholders
- Experience of working within the water industry
