Consultant in Oral

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well
- established and dynamic Maxillofacial Unit as a full-time (10 PA) Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, working across the sites at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, and Worthing and Southlands Hospitals.

You will join 5 other Maxillofacial Surgeons, 3 Consultant Orthodontists and a Consultant Restorative Dentist to provide the full range of oral and maxillofacial surgery. In addition the department is renowned for its head and neck surgical dermatology service, which you will contribute to. You will take an active part in teaching and training specialty registrars and DCT1s. This role would allow you to take part in the Facial Deformity service within a supportive and forward-thinking team.

You will provide a comprehensive oral and maxillofacial surgery service to out-patients and in-patients.

You will take part in the 1:5 on-call rota for emergency care, based at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester.

You can contribute to the surgical input to the facial deformity and orthognathic service; and the surgical management of head and neck skin cancer.

You will undertake multidisciplinary clinics for orthognathic surgery and head and neck surgical dermatology.

You will be involved in teaching and training junior staff.

You will support Specialty Doctors and Specialist Doctors in Oral Surgery.

**The clinical duties of the post include the following**: the post-holder will be expected to work with consultant colleagues to provide a comprehensive oral and maxillofacial service in line with the service commissioned by NHS England. If desired the post-holder can take part in the facial deformity and orthognathic surgery service, undertaking monthly MDT clinics with Orthodontic Consultant colleagues. There is also a large head and neck surgical dermatology service which they will contribute to, and participate in weekly MDT clinics. They will contribute to clinical teaching within the department, and will be expected to supervise cases treated by Oral and Maxillofacial trainees.

The on-call commitment is 1:5, and based at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester. The second on-call support is shared between the Trust’s own Registrars and Portsmouth.
