Structural Biology/biophysics Postdoctoral

You will join a diverse, fast-paced and collaborative team based within the Ciulli group and have the opportunity to work closely with medicinal chemists and cell biologists within the collaboration, as well as with other scientists more widely in the Ciulli group. You should exhibit excellent communication and collaborative skills for working on multi-disciplinary teams.
This is an exceptional opportunity to join a newly founded Research Centre and Group that is innovating models of translational chemical biology and pushing the boundaries of targeted protein degradation research, and to gain experience in world-leading, collaborative and cutting-edge research in one of the hottest areas of modern translational chemical biology within an academic setting with strong industrial links.
**Location**: The postholder will be based at the newly refurbished CeTPD Complex, adjacent to the Life Sciences Complex.
- A Ph.D. in structural biology, biophysics, biochemistry, chemical biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related discipline
- Strong background in biophysics, structural biology or chemical biology to study protein structures and protein-ligand interactions.
- Strong skills in molecular biology (construct design, cloning etc.), protein expression using bacteria and insect cells, protein purification, and assay development.
- Experience with fragment-based screening and/or structure-based drug design.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- An open and collaborative approach to science
Who we’re looking for:
- Experience with multi-protein complexes and with targeting protein-protein interactions. Cell biology and/or proteomics experience would be a bonus
- Outstanding academic or industrial track records
- Capable of working in a diverse team, but able to plan and work independently
- Exceptional time management, organisational and self-motivational skills
The post is available immediately and is fixed term with funding currently available **until 30 September 2025 in the first instance**. This term may be extendable depending on project progress and funding.
Appointment as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant on the Grade 7 salary scale (**£34,308 - £42,155**) is dependent upon you having been awarded a PhD. An appointment may be considered if you are shortly expected to be awarded a PhD, in which case the initial appointment would be made as a Research Assistant on the Training Grade 7 salary scale (Spinal Point 25 - 28/£30,502 - £33,314).
