The purpose of the Unit is to provide an efficient, effective and caring day case service to patients, from across the South Yorkshire region who require systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) treatment, including chemotherapy.

The unit is a busy nurse-led environment which delivers SACT to approximately 60 to 70 or more patients each day. SACT treatments vary significantly in duration of treatment and chair time on the unit. Effective scheduling of treatments and co-ordination of patient flow through the unit is therefore essential to this service. The post holder will work closely with nursing, clerical and other healthcare staff to achieve this.

The successful applicant will be involved with the scheduling and planning of patients admitted through the DCU maximizing the effective use of staff and resources available.

To co-ordinate the scheduling of SACT treatment on the DCU

To co-ordinate the flow of patients through the DCU maximising the effective use of staff and chair resources

To liaise with other teams, service and departments to facilitate effective scheduling and flow of patients through the DCU

To identify actual and potential problems with scheduling of SACT, such as breaches in capacity for SACT delivery, and take appropriate action to prevent or address issues identified

To provide data and reports to support scheduling and workflow in DCU

To participate in Service Improvement initiatives carried out relating to SACT
