South East London (SEL) Newborn Hearing Screening Programme
We are looking for a friendly, flexible and highly motivated individual to join our team as a site lead.. We are part of Evelina Children’s Community Directorate within Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Our team has been recognised as a one of the top performing sites in England.
This is a fulltime position with core working hours Monday through Friday, the role includes off site weekend on-call cover on rotation (approximately every 5 weeks) Flexible working requests will be considered.
Our service is located in 5 different hospital sites across SEL and we also deliver outpatient newborn hearing screening in 7 locations. We have 2 positions available as below:
Site Lead St Thomas’ Hospital
Site Lead Kings College Hospital & Princess Royal Hospital
The Site Lead will work closely with the Assistant Manager, Programme Lead and Head of Service to maintain the high level of service delivery standards and support the team. Relevant training will be provided as required and dependent on the successful applicant’s previous experience, knowledge and skills.

We are looking for an individual with previous experience working as a Newborn hearing screener and managing staff.
They will have line management responsibility for a team of Newborn Hearing Screeners within SEL and will also provide help and support across the SEL Screening team as and when needed. Some Screening will be required.
The site lead will be required to work across different service locations and also to work out of the service’s main offices based at the Children & Young People’s Audiology Centre at St Thomas’s Hospital
We are the largest Newborn Hearing screening Programme (NHSP) in England, screening the hearing of around 26 000 babies born across South East London (SEL) every year. We are part of Evelina Children’s Community Directorate within Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

**Responsibilities**:
The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the NHSP site lead role and its purpose within the service; they are not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake additional or alternative administrative or managerial duties and responsibilities commensurate with the level of the post, to support the smooth running of the service.
Operational Management
Support the Local Programme Manager and Assistant Programme Manager in managing various sections of service, e.g. provision of antenatal information, screening procedures and onward referrals.
This will require working autonomously to understand and drive operating targets, budget controls, and relevant HR management.
Ensure effective processes and procedures are in place to monitor and track performance against agreed targets within the service that may be performance related.
Problem-solve day-to-day management issues organising and reallocating work where situations change due to variations to the work load and staffing availability.
Exercise delegated authority on behalf of the Local Programme Manager and Assistant Programme
Manager to resolve day-to-day management issues within the service.
Manage the analysis of data so the Local Programme Manager Assistant Programme Manager and Head of Service have access to timely and accurate information on all key performance indicators.
Professional Responsibilities
To assist the Local Programme Manager and Assistant Programme Manager in ensuring the hearing screening programme is carried out as per national and local protocols and to write, review and update local protocols and procedures as and when necessary.
To assist the Local Programme Manager Assistant Programme Manager to ensure all parents of eligible babies are offered the Newborn Hearing Screen in a timely fashion.
To liaise with other Newborn Hearing Screening Programmes to ensure families receive a seamless screening and follow-up service.
Liaise with relevant health professionals and other agencies as required
To carry out regular competency assessments for newborn hearing screeners, provide performance feedback and identify individual training needs.
To take a lead role in training new screeners including new screener observations and sign off
Recording of screening results in Patient medical records
Accurately record screening data using both manual and computerised methods, maintaining a high degree of accuracy
To carry out Transfer in and out and share of records on NHSP data base Smart4Hearing (S4H).
