Oxford, United Kingdom Walking With The Wounded Full time

**Job Title**: Cultural Liaison Officer

**Salary**: £24,000 (for 22.5 hours per week)

**Hours**: Part time 22.5 hours per week (e.g. 9 - 5 with half hour unpaid break)

**Contract Type**: Fixed Term until 31 December 2024

**Company benefits**: 5% Employer pension contribution, Employee Assistance Programme, Death in Service following successful completion of probation, Bike to Work Scheme, travel expenses and competitive annual leave.

**Do you have what it takes to be part of the Walking With The Wounded team?**

Walking With The Wounded WWTW deliver employment, mental health, care coordination and volunteering programmes in collaboration with the NHS to get those who served, and their families, whether mentally, socially or physically wounded, back on their feet and making a positive contribution once more. Why? Because those who served, deserve.

From both our own experience and research, we know that people from minority ethnicities are more likely to be unemployed than their white counterparts after leaving the forces. At present they are 22% less likely to secure meaningful employment. The reasons for this are varied and may include reluctance to ask for help due to personal or culture beliefs, or lack of information/signposting available in some communities.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Cultural Liaison Officer to join our team. As Cultural Liaison Officer you will deliver our Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (AFCFT) funded project: Improving Employment Support for Minority Ethnicities. This project ultimately aims to improve the employment service we deliver for people from minority ethnicities including;
- developing a comprehensive referral network for veterans of minority ethnicities who are struggling to access employment support and services post discharge.
- developing cultural awareness and knowledge amongst our staff.
- developing support materials to enable veterans to access appropriate support for themselves and their families.

We are looking for someone who has a passion for Equity, Inclusion and Diversity (EDI) and the skills and experience to develop and deliver an organisation wide project of this nature. You would have good first degree or equivalent professional experience in a discipline relevant which may include; social studies, EDI, project management and evaluation, qualitative and/or quantitative research or impact assessment.

This role has potential to significantly improve WWTW Employment support offer to people from minority ethnicities, and share our learnings across the sector.

Applications from Black, Asian or other minority ethnic backgrounds are particularly welcome as these groups are currently underrepresented within Walking With The Wounded.

In return, we will provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate and develop your skills and career in a supportive, inclusive environment. In this role, no two days are the same and every day will bring new challenges. Internal training will be provided, and we encourage our staff to develop their own personal and professional skills.

If you would like to discuss the role further please get in touch with Pauline Coats on 07842 229 675, to provide your contact details.
