**Contract Duration**:6 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)

**Electronics Design Engineer Job Description**:
The Electronic Engineering function is a friendly and supportive environment. Within the function, you will be working with other engineers who have a collective wealth of experience across a wide range technologies and products and are happy to share theirknowledge to support one another, ensuring opportunities for improvement are identified and best practice is upheld.

Depending upon the stage of the project, perform a range of electronic design tasks, including negotiation of sub-system requirements, derivation of circuit architectures, circuit design and analysis, schematic entry using Zuken schematic editor, producedesign documentation, achieve manufacture of prototypes and initial test of these, defining and performing formal testing including supporting environmental and EMC trials, produce design statement and test reports that contribute to the evidence Requirementfor certification of the product.

This work will be achieved to time and budget under the direction of the Electronics Design Authority. Dependent upon the specific project task and technology used, a range of skills will be considered including, digital and microprocessor design, analoguedesign from low to RF frequencies, power electronics design including some power supply design. Note that FPGA design is covered in a separate sub-contract role.

**Responsibilities..**

This role is to support RF testing, Trials Data Reception via Satellite / Satcom, Design and deployment of sizeable hardware systems. You will be working with multiple antenna types and sizes as well as terrestrial and SatCom VSAT Ground stations.

This role also involves working with partner organisations and agencies or MoD etc to support / develop or demonstrate capability and solutions.

The role requires a high degree of hands-on Electrical and Mechanical activities, from Data connection to redesign and fit out of Military Technical Shelter/ Teleport.

**Skillset/experience required
- .**
- Experience in Satcom or Satellite Communication.
- Experience in RF connectivity, cabling and Path Losses etc.
- Experience in Data Systems connectivity, Fibre Optic Cabling and interfacing. Basic Networking structure and management.
- Electrical systems experience in Power Distribution, Earthing and laying on of services to remote equipment.
- Setting up of RF antenna Measurement structures for outdoor Ranges and compiling reports on performance and characteristics.
- Knowledge of Defence related methods and preparation for Trials / Remote Testing using MoD ranges is advantageous.
