Working Arrangements are £20,374 pro-rated based on 37.5 Whole Time Equivalent

Derby Health Staffing aims to match suitably skilled workers with the staffing requirements of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

You will have the opportunity to work across a variety of services based at both Royal Derby Hospital and London Road Community Hospital, in departments ranging from very young children to older people.

Flexible Physiotherapy Assistant

You will have the opportunity to work in the inpatient orthopaedic therapy department at Royal Derby Hospital. As a Flexible Physiotherapy Assistant you will work alongside Physiotherapists, working to a therapy programme created by our qualified staff to support patients and work with them to improve their mobility. Duties may include: Assisting the qualified physiotherapist to assess patients ability to transfer and mobilise, talking to patients and preparing them for therapy, showing patients how to use mobility aids, demonstrating and working through exercises with patients, setting up equipment, general administration and cleaning.

Flexible Occupational Therapy Assistant

As a Flexible Occupational Therapy Assistant you will be working alongside our Occupational Therapists to help patients manage their daily activities and live as independently as possible. Patients may have mental, physical or social difficulties resulting from illness, an accident or the ageing process. Duties may include: helping clients with their rehabilitation, encouraging them to think positively and work towards agreed goals for discharge, monitor and document their progress, provide regular feedback to qualified therapists and nursing staff, help patients who have been in an accident to adjust, show an older patient how to use equipment, check equipment is in good working order and support qualified staff undertaking visits in the community setting.

We are looking to appoint individuals that meet all of the requirements below and in the job specification. Should you be successfully recruited into a Flexible Worker position, this may allow you to be considered for a range of work at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.
- Display excellent interpersonal skills with a flexible approach to work
- Be able to work effectively within an established team
- Have a minimum of 6 months paid experience working in a care setting, practical experience obtained whilst undergoing a therapy qualification or have commenced practical placements as a current Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy student.
- Have obtained or working towards a therapy qualification identified as an NVQ, Diploma or BTEC (or equivalent/higher).
