We are working exclusively with a growing and reputable electrical contractor who are currently on the lookout for a Solar PV installer to join the team, responsible for installing and maintaining solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Ability to work on rooftops and other structures to mount, wire, and connect solar panels to the electrical grid or energy storage systems. Their role involves both physical labour and technical expertise to ensure efficient and safe installation of solar power systems.

Job Responsibilities:

- Site Assessment: Conducting on-site visits to assess the location, roof condition, and other factors to determine the feasibility of solar PV installation in accordance with UK regulations and guidelines.
- System Design: Collaborating with engineers and project managers to plan the layout and design of solar PV systems based on customer requirements and UK-specific standards.
- Panel Mounting: Installing mounting systems and positioning solar panels on rooftops or ground-mounted structures, ensuring proper alignment and adherence to UK safety standards and building codes.
- Electrical Wiring: Connecting solar panels to electrical components, including inverters, charge controllers, and energy storage systems, and routing wiring safely and efficiently while complying with UK electrical regulations.
- Equipment Installation: Installing and integrating other components such as batteries, meters, and monitoring systems as required by the project, adhering to UK-specific standards.
- Testing and Commissioning: Conducting system tests to verify proper functioning, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with UK electrical codes, regulations, and relevant certifications, such as the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
- Maintenance and Repair: Performing routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on solar PV systems, including cleaning panels, checking connections, and replacing faulty components, while adhering to UK-specific guidelines.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities, including generating reports and providing documentation in accordance with UK standards and regulatory requirements.
- Customer Interaction: Communicating with clients, answering their questions, explaining system operations, and providing post-installation support and guidance in compliance with UK-specific regulations and industry best practices.

**Requirements**:

- Education and Training: Certification, in electrical engineering BS7671 - 2008 18th Edition approved or electrician, recognised industry standard Solar Installer training, or a related field is beneficial. Knowledge of UK-specific solar PV systems and regulations is advantageous.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of solar PV systems, electrical wiring, and basic electronics. Knowledge of UK electrical codes and regulations, including the Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), is essential.
- Experience: Previous experience in solar PV installation, electrical work, or construction is advantageous. Apprenticeships or on-the-job training programs can also provide relevant experience in the UK context.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of UK-specific safety procedures and adherence to safety regulations, including the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Attention to Detail: Precise measurement and accurate installation are critical to the efficiency and longevity of solar PV systems. Attention to detail is vital in this role, ensuring compliance with UK standards.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues with solar PV systems, electrical components, and wiring, while considering UK-specific requirements.
- Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, clients, and provide clear instructions or explanations, while adhering to UK-specific guidelines.
- Professionalism: Demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and excellent customer service skills when interacting with clients, while considering UK-specific cultural norms and expectations.

Package:

- Permanent full time
- Salary to £38,000
- 37.5 hours per week
