Admin Assistant
We have a part-time vacancy for a Business Support Assistant in West Cornwall whose core focus will be to support the work of our frontline practitioners; enabling them to achieve the best outcomes and prioritise direct work with children and families and ensure timely communications with service users and partner agencies. The part-time role is working 22.2 hours per week - Mon - Wed 8.45am - 5.15pm
Successful applicants will work as part of a team, supporting children and families across the county through the delivery of high-quality business support services. Duties will involve a range of tasks including the monitoring of admin mailboxes, distribution of correspondence and reports, records management, meeting administration and detailed recording of complex meetings within strict timescales, financial transactions and input of information to the Case Management System.
Whilst the location/work base for these roles has been specified, our evolving ways of working means that the role may require you to work remotely (e.g. from home/other locations). We work flexibly to most effectively support the people, services and organisations that we support and will discuss this with you during the recruitment process. There will be a requirement to assist with the delivery of business support within our core business hours, Monday - Friday.
Applicants should have 4 GCSEs (A-C), or equivalent, including English and Maths and have excellent keyboard skills. Experience of working in an office environment would be an advantage. Comprehensive training will be given and once established in the role, opportunities for career development will be available.
This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
Fairness and inclusion are at the heart of our vision for Cornwall. In order to best serve our communities, we are striving to achieve a diverse workforce that is inclusive of all backgrounds, cultures and identities; e.g. race, disability, sex, gender, age, religion and sexual orientation. We are an equal opportunities and Disability Confident employer, and we will assess applicants on their merits.
Cornwall Council is committed to safeguarding and following safer recruitment principles to help make sure our staff and volunteers are suitable to work with children, young people and adults at risk. It’s a vital part of creating a safe and positive environment and making a commitment to keeping all service users safe from harm.
More information about working for Cornwall Council is available here.
We are happy to talk about flexible working options.
