A Japanese cultural centre is looking for a Programming Manager to join their team. Native or Business level Japanese is required for this role.

WORKING HOURS: Monday to Friday
SALARY: €35K
START: ASAP
LOCATION: London

Main Responsibilities
Developing, coordinating, and executing exhibition programmes under the supervision of the Head of Programming Projects. At critical points during exhibition implementation, such as during installation and deinstallation, such work may not align with conventionaloffice hours
Ensuring exhibition installation and de-installation are conducted efficiently and on time
Liaising in English and Japanese with a range of stakeholders in Japan and the UK to develop and deliver exhibitions
Liaising regularly with the Japanese side for the creation of exhibition proposals, reports and to ensure outcomes are consistent with departmental KPIs.
Fulfilling reporting tasks that contribute to the exhibition project management process, quarterly departmental reports, Team and organizational KPIs, etc.
Relationship building with cultural and academic institutions, contractors and individuals in the UK and Japan
Working closely with other departments to support creation of content and delivering of exhibitions and ensure marketing, technical and operational needs of programmes are met. This requires regular coordination across teams in various ways such as the EventsOperations Meeting
Occasional support and delivery of other projects with other members of the Programming team or other departments

**Qualifications**:
Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification in a relevant field
Additional training / courses completed in associated areas advantageous, especially architecture or similar

Knowledge
An understanding of Japan and Japanese language essential
High level of proficiency in full MS Office suite, Adobe Illustrator, Sketchup or similar
Background in architectural design
Use of CRM and other software systems beneficial

Experience
Experience of working with or in Japan essential
Professional experience in a similar role with responsibility for exhibition building and installation, executive-level correspondence, administration and logistics management
Experience of working in an inter-cultural environment
Exposure to sector (Museum, Arts, Architecture, NFP, Visitor Attraction, Heritage Destination or Tourism Development) beneficial
Previous experience in a project-office environment desirable

Excellent written and spoken English
Japanese language and the ability to translate effectively between English and Japanese
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Able to balance multiple projects and priorities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Capable of working alongside leading artists, designers and curators
Commitment to creating and maintaining good relationships with individuals and organizations, both in Japan and elsewhere
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

Able to influence people whilst maintaining tact and cultural sensitivity
Excellent time management skills
A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
