Yard Foreman

**Title: Yard Foreman / Site Supervisor**

The Best Connection are currently hiring a Site Foreman to assist in the running of a metal recycling facility on a Temporary to Permanent basis for one of our busy clients in Ashford, Kent.

The working hours are Monday to Friday 7am till 5pm with additional Saturdays required.

Following a successful probationary period, a permanent contract may be offered.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Manage and oversee site activities on a day-to-day basis.

2. Supervise site staff and any sub-contractors on site.

3. Ensure all site staff are fully trained in their respective roles within the site and where necessary, advise of additional training needs.

4. Ensure site staff and contractors follow all health & safety procedures; a high level of health & safety and housekeeping is maintained across the site.

5. Ensure site plant and machinery are checked daily via the daily defect reporting system to ensure they are safe to operate.

6. Ensure production is maximised.

7. Complete stock takes (audits) as required by the Board of Directors.

8. Ensure the site operates within its designated regulatory framework and site license.

9. Ensure effective and timely Weighbridge Operations.

10. Maintain customer and employee Weighbridge records.

11. Operate the Company FRED computer system for all Weighbridge transactions.

12. Operate the Weighbridge and office phones.

13. Available to cover weighbridge duties at other sites as necessary.

**Qualification / Experience / Skills**:
Essential:
1. Team management and leadership.

2. Strong planning and organisational skills.

3. Ability to work under pressure.

4. Problem solving.

5. Some formal Health & Safety training - IOSH Managing Safely in the Workplace.

6. COTC - (WAMITAB) level 4 or willing to work towards.

Desirable:
1. Experience / qualification(s) in operating heavy plant would be an advantage but not essential.

2. NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.

3. Previous experience within the metal recycling industry.

- Hourly rate as above (not age dependent)
- 28 days Paid Annual Leave pro-rata for PAYE (inclusive of statutory holiday)
