The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team assisting in the development and implementation of collaborative, needs based care plans.
They support the team in providing excellent and effective person centred,
nursing care. They are actively involved in the health and wellbeing of staff
and service users.
They are visible and accessible to patients, families and carers working
together to ensure efficient, effective and caring service.
They contribute to achieving all performance indicators, essential standards and quality outcomes They provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and to assist the nursing staff in providing nursing, clerical support hotel type services within the ward area.
To assist nursing staff in providing support for carers.

To assist other nursing staff in attending to physical,
physiological and personal needs of the patients.
To assist in the implementation of improving standards.
To assist and support professionals from the multi
disciplinary team with agreed clinical activities.
Assist with the admissions/discharges of patients.

Assist with preparing patients for meals, serving meals,
beverages and feeding patients as appropriate and
communication of relevant nursing documentation.
To assist with the hygiene of patients.
Supporting patients when being transferred from one care
to another.
Contribute to the protection of patients from abuse
maintain patient safety.
Establish and maintain good relationships with patients,
their relatives and colleagues.

Promote equality for all patients and maintain
patient safety.
Demonstrate effective communication methods within
your work environment.
Be involved in the delivery of health promotion with
support from the multi disciplinary team.
Awareness of Mental Health Act (1983) legislation
To attend Ward/Department meetings and in-service
mandatory training events as required.
To attend violence and aggression training.
Contribute to the management of aggressive or abusive
behaviour.
Attend in house training in the management of mental
health issues and de-escalation techniques.
Participate and take a rotational lead with patient activity
programme.
Feedback relevant information in weekly MDT meetings.

Based in the North East of England we provide a range of hospital and community health services from our leading facilities, including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon urgent care centre and Bensham Hospital, all within Gateshead.

Established in 2005, we were one of the first foundation trusts in the country and since then have consistently achieved the highest levels of care for patients.

We now employ around 4,800 staff and currently provide 444 hospital beds across the Gateshead region.
