**Car driver with valid license, insurance and vehicle for site visits** A P/T Adaptions Surveyor is required to support the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) team in all aspects of the technical work for the District Council with a particular focus on Adaptations. Responsible for contributing towards the design and delivery of home improvements and adaptations for residents, as well as being responsible for providing quality control, customer liaison on site and contractor monitoring to deliver and develop the service effectively. Key responsibilities:

- Carry a caseload of adaptations, including both adults and children.
- Support the Senior Technical Officer in all technical areas relating to DFG work as tasked.
- Work closely with Occupational Therapists on adaptations, having a detailed understanding of adaptations to be able to provide guidance and support on what is technically possible, within the legislation and other policies and procedures.
- Process adaptations cases including checking plans and costings, supervising work on site, assessing works for stage payments and ensuring all works comply with legislation, policy and procedure and Health and Safety.
- Take the lead on Health and Safety matters in relation to the work of contractors on site (usually in the homes of vulnerable and disabled people), including but not restricted to asbestos, CDM etc.
- Manage own workload with mínimal supervision from the Senior Technical Officer.

**Qualifications**:

- Trained or practised in the use of CAD packages (preferably AutoCAD).
- Relevant building qualification to HNC/HND level or above or part professional level (e.g. RICS, ICW, IMBM, CIEH, BIAT).
- Good standard of general education to GCSE pass level or equivalent.

**Experience**:

- Experience and contribution in tendering and implementing procurement contracts.
- Experience of working with contractors to manage projects, achieve good quality works and adherence to programmes.
- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
- General property maintenance experience, with a domestic property bias.
- Experience and ability of producing detailed technical drawings or using CAD.
- Good understanding of current Building Regulations and Planning requirements.
- Good understanding and working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations related to construction and current CDM regulations.
- Ability to deal with a range of building trades at both a practical and theoretical level.
- Experience of working with the public, particularly older and disabled people.
- An awareness of the particular issues relating to older, disabled and vulnerable people and their housing needs.

**Skills**:

- Ability to provide detailed and accurate schedules of work and specifications for disabled persons adaptations.
- Ability to make clear written and oral notes/reports.
- Ability to undertake and interpret architectural drawings and plans.
- Technical design and specification of domestic building works.
- Production of working drawings to a professional standard.
- Understand the principles of confidentiality.
- Full driving licence and vehicle required.
- Able to work on own initiative or within a team, and manage own workload and deadlines.
- Able and willing to work flexibly within a small project team and appreciation of the need to respond to the requirements of a customer driven policy.
- Diplomatic approach to conflict or complaint resolution (customers and contractors).
- Good interpersonal and negotiating skills, including dealing with elderly and disabled customers.
- Strong IT skills using Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
