Arden College is situated in the heart of Southport, a vibrant and cultured town on the West coast of Lancashire. The college makes the most of its position and much of the extended college curriculum is located within the community and vocational settings within the region. The college is a specialist college for students aged 16 to 25 years with complex learning difficulties, autism and challenging behaviour. Individual programmes of day or residential support are available as 38- or 52-week placements. Our aim is to ensure that learners are prepared for independent adult life, including independence, good physical and mental health, friendships and relationships and employment if appropriate.

A Level 4 qualification in Children’s Residential and Childcare is essential, as well as previous experience within a residential childcare setting along with the following characteristics:
**Resilience **- We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.

**Communication **- Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication play a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.

**Organisation **- As well as supervising the staff team, you’ll need to be confident and organised in updating care plans and reporting information that will be relevant to the care of our young people.

**Caring **- Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.

**Attentive **- No young person is the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.
