Acorn Executive Search is currently recruiting the new Chief Operating Officer on behalf of the Football Association of Wales (FAW).
This is a key strategic role for the FAW with overall responsibility for the operations of all football in Wales including the FAW domestic leagues; the operations of all international squads; all compliance areas including the new football services centre,national training centres and key projects.
The role will be key in driving the operational performance of the association forward and will be responsible for measuring, reviewing and improving processes within the operations area to ensure the FAW is working efficiently and providing the best possibleservice to our football family.
Key Details:

- Based at FAW's headquarters in Hensol, Vale of Glamorgan.
- Reports into the Chief Executive of FAW.
Key Responsibilities:

- Working with the CEO to translate the Our Wales strategy into key operational objectives and monitor the delivery of these objectives.
- Be a key contact for external stakeholders, including the wider football family in Wales, other national associations, UEFA, FIFA and Sport Wales.
- Lead and oversee key operational departments within the FAW - Compliance, Football Services, Domestic Competitions, International Football Operations, Projects and National Facilities.
- Reporting on a regular basis on the performance of all areas of the operations teams within the FAW to the FAW Board, Shareholders and relevant sub-committees
- Lead on complex, strategic projects for the FAW and ensure these are brought in on time and on budget.
- Ensure people management processes are carried out effectively within the departments of responsibility, including giving effective feedback through performance management processes
- Embed the FAW's values within the team as well as being a role model for living the values.
Person Specification
Qualifications:

- Educated to degree level or equivalent, Masters degree is advantageous
- Project management qualification would be beneficial
Knowledge/Skills:

- Ability to logically analyse processes within the FAW and work to implement a continuous improvement mindset in the organisation.
- Analytical and decisive decision making with the ability to prioritise and communicate key objectives
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Knowledge of legal and compliance issues within a sporting context (advantageous)
- Knowledge of Welsh domestic and international football (advantageous)
- Ability to speak the Welsh language (advantageous)
**Experience**:

- Experience managing a multi-functional team with the ability to coach senior-level staff to manage and develop high-performing teams
- Experience of working at a senior level within a management team
- Extensive project management with a track record of on-time, on-budget delivery
- Experience of building relationships with key external stakeholders across a large number of organisations including internationally
