An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly organised, highly skilled individual who will work with the Divisional Director of Midwifery, Nursing and Governance to deliver operational and strategic leadership across both sites delivering on a range of midwifery / maternity priorities.

The Associate Director of Midwifery is specifically accountable for the delivery and performance of the midwifery care provided within Women Children and Sexual Health Division and ensuring compliance with standards of care and that treatment meets the requirements of the Care Quality Commission standards. The Associate Director of Midwifery in collaboration with Divisional Director of Midwifery, Nursing & Governance also has lead responsibility for governance within Maternity. This includes Infection Control, Health & Safety, risk management and the management of serious incidents and complaints, ensuring that action plans are completed and that the service learns from such events.

Our diverse client population provides constant challenges while we strive to deliver the highest standard of care. We have considerable expertise at caring for women/birthing people with complex and high-risk needs. Our specialist midwives consistently provide the highest standard of multi-agency care.

As a large Trust we facilitate care for around 7500 mothers/ birthing people and their babies every year. We have two busy obstetric units on each site, each with a beautiful, well established, co-aligned Birth Centre.

Our whole maternity service is exciting and innovative and we have received CQC ratings of ‘Good’ since 2017.

The Associate Director of Midwifery has a clinical leadership role in relation to the midwifery and support staff within the maternity services, creating an environment which promotes and supports high standards of clinical and professional practice, resulting in high quality patient care.

The Associate Director of Midwifery, in collaboration The Divisional Director of Midwifery, Nursing & Governance, shapes and articulates the vision for the future and provides the direction and motivation to pursue strategic goals, but is specifically accountable for delivery of the Trust Midwifery within the Division. In collaboration with the Divisional Director of Midwifery, Nursing & Governance, the Associate Director of Midwifery also has lead responsibility for governance within maternity.
