**Job summary**:
The Standing Officer of the Watch (SOOW) is responsible to Command Senior Management Team for the daily routine of the Station to include providing an immediate and appropriate response to any incident or emergency affecting RNAS Yeovilton. The SOOW is accountable to the First Lieutenant (1L) who will act as Line Manager, and the Executive Officer as 2nd Reporting Officer. The SOOW is authorised to collaborate closely directly with internal and external authorities to achieve the primary and secondary purposes, as detailed within Terms of Reference of position.

The Standing Officer of the Watch position is an excellent career opportunity for a well-organised and proactive person, work can work at pace, while retaining an eye for detail, and play an important and pivotal role in supporting RNAS Yeovilton. Roles can offer excellent job satisfaction and there are many opportunities to develop and progress both within the Department and across the wider Civil Service.

This is a full time position however, due to the fixed shift working patterns of this appointment, this position is not suitable for alternative working arrangements.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
There are five SOOW employed at RNAS Yeovilton, who work a 24/7, 365, 5-week watch system based on twelve hour shifts.

Principal Tasks:
Co-ordinate the day to day running of the Air Station in accordance with Yeovilton Standing Orders.

Provide direction and supervision of all duty personnel when required.

Initiate the whole station response to incidents/accidents and take charge of the incident in the Incident Control Point (ICP).

Ensure the Quartermaster musters the Explosive and Important Keys at watch handover and at 2359. Take action to rectify any discrepancies.

Maintain the Daily Occurrence Log. Produce a Significant Incident Report for Command daily, or on completion of main leave period.

Conduct station ceremonial where required.

Monitor the dress and bearing of uniformed personnel.

Ensure the correct action is taken in the event of a fire or intruder alarm system activation.

Ensure squadrons and departments maintain up to date key authorisation lists.

Ensure the on-watch Military Provost Guard (MPGS) Section carries out security rounds in accordance with the MPGS Platoon Commander’s instructions. Authorise the extraneous use of Service transport out of working hours.

Make and/or supervise Main Broadcast pipes.

Muster all station weapons held in the Armoury weekly.

Emergency out of hours issue and PAYD vouchers.

Initiate the OOH lost or stolen ID card procedure.

Conduct other tasks deemed appropriate by Command.

Carry out U18 midnight ID card checks at the Guardroom.

Initiate Level 1 100% ID checks once per month IAW YSO's.

Manage COVID isolating personnel in and out of the Yeovilton isolation facility once validated by the Medical Centre.

**Person specification**:
A proven personnel manager and report writer where attention to details and time sensitive information is required. Able to deal with multiple tasks, working to priorities and deadlines.

Experience in crisis management, emergency planning, security procedures, first response medical reaction and first aid mental health are considered to be beneficial for this role. Experience with young workers and knowledge of general data protection regulations and previous knowledge of Armed Forces/Police Force/Civil Defence/Ambulance Service/Fire Service are desirable for this position.

Job specific training can be completed in post.
