**Our mission is simpleto help the world Love Mondays.**

Every week, thousands of people across the UK start a new job - and it’s our job to help them get there.

REED is a specialist provider of permanent, contract, temporary and outsourced recruitment solutions

I hope all is well with you.

I am recruiting for a Building Inspector to work with my public sector client based in the Stockport and assist it regulatory obligations.

**The role**

Whether you are undertaking a new build, an extension or making structural alterations to your home, you’ll need Building Regulations approval from your local building inspector.

Building Inspectors determine the structural soundness of buildings and construction projects. They are responsible for inspecting and assessing the structural quality of a building and ensuring compliance with zoning regulations, national building codes, and contract specifications.

We are recruiting for a qualified Building Inspector for construction and building inspections. As a Building Inspector, you will be required to conduct inspections before, during, and after construction to ensure that the building and construction sitecomplies with safety, structural, and building code regulations. You will also be required to issue violation notices, stop-work orders, and permits for construction.

To succeed you should have advanced engineering and construction knowledge, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to make difficult decisions. Ultimately, a first-class Building Inspector quickly spots safety and structural issues and can make clear decisionswithout emotional influences.

To be eligible for this role you will need to the following
- Under the Building Safety Bill there will be a requirement for the post holder to become a Registered Building Inspector at competence levels B and ideally C. Competence level A would not attract this grade.
- Degree, HNC or degree equivalent in a construction-related discipline and evidence of dealing with medium to high-rise residential, industrial and commercial developments.
- Evidence of progression to gaining a professional qualification is also desirable.
- Experience in the building construction industry
- Experience working with Building Regulations (Approved Documents), British Standards and Codes of Practice.
- Use of computers for the recording of site visits, preparation of reports and other correspondence
- Demonstrate a real commitment to the highest standard of service to our customers, particularly in a competitive environment.
- Readiness to take on additional responsibilities, commensurate with the grade and to represent the section or service to assist in the implementation of Best Value, Quality Assurance, or other initiatives
- Hold a full UK driving licence

This is a temporary role, working on a full-time basis for 3 - 6 months; the role pays **£30 - £40 per hour.**
