This is a brilliant opportunity to support the Clothing and Home Space team and be central to their continued transformation.

**Job Role**
- Develop and lead the Clothing/Home & productivity space strategies, optimising space; taking a customer, profit and sales led approach.
- Work to reduce working capital by ensuring optimal allocation of space at Micro level supporting right levels of width and depth of stock and effective stock presentation.
- Ensure all space change drives improvements to profit, customer journey or store implementation. Reviews the impact of change and feeds outcomes to space management and BU leadership teams.
- Work with the Merchandising and VM to deliver a commercially utilised space for each phase/season.
- Find opportunities within the estate to drive commercial opportunities.
- Optimises the use of space to maximise profitability and drive year on year BU growth whilst supporting a reduction in working capital.
- Challenge and promote the dynamic use of space, generating ideas that enable flexibility, seasonal shifts where there is obvious opportunity.
- Drive year on year improvements and returns from space with particular focus on maximising key seasonal trading opportunities.
- Takes ownership for delivering action orientated recommendations, challenging teams to make the best use of space to drive profitability and customer experience in the short and long term.
- Responsible for translating the Clothing and Home Space strategy into store plans (or planograms with VM) for all grades to support retail implementation
- Optimises space for product based on rate of sale and space required, across each grade
- Maximises the efficiency of store and fixture space.
- Can be scaled across the business, aligned to VM and the BU
- Inspire and develop self and others, in own team and virtual team to deliver the business plan
- Manage their part of the space critical path for to deliver a grading structure that aligns to our store portfolio

**Key Skills and Experience**
- A Space Planning expert who has a track record in successfully defining, developing, and delivering an effective space strategy
- Awareness of best-in-class Clothing and Home space planning principles, systems, and methodologies in and outside of M&S
- Someone who is equally comfortable working at every level of space planning, from macro to micro to planograms
- Is known for delivering sales and profit improvements through the planning and delivery of outstanding stores that maximise commercial returns.
- Able to influence stakeholders up to and including leadership team, providing expert consultancy to drive strategic change
- Able to think strategically about the challenges M&S poses and creating new thinking that helps us transform
- Strong numerical capabilities
- Ability to initiate, build and maintain strong working relationships
- Ability to manage own time and prioritise activity for both self and others
- Able to challenge information when required using key facts and information
- A drive to improve performance and maximize space productivity
- Understanding of the processes of delivering product within the store retailing environment
- Advanced level of Microsoft Excel required.
- Good understanding of Microsoft PowerPoint and Word required
