**Position Summary**:
The Product Innovation & Engineering: Capability Science Team (PI&E CS) develops the fundamental knowledge & capabilities that enables Infineum to be the Technology Leader in the industry for transportation lubricant additives as well as a world class Speciality Chemical Company.

Critical to the role is the ability to generate innovative solutions to industry challenges; from developing & understanding the role of new chemistries through to a detailed understanding of the tests and rigs used to qualify and approve new products containing them.

**What you will be doing**:

- Proactively contribute to the high safety standards of the group
- Develop innovative and creative approaches to design & fundamentally understand new chemistry, additives, and test methods to solve a range of technical challenges
- Solve complex scientific problems, communicating findings at multiple interfaces and influencing stakeholders and customers
- Collaborate with internal & external technical/academic contacts as well as key industry players
- Generate innovative solutions to meet the needs of the team’s internal customers
- Supervision and development of junior colleagues through both projects and appraisal leadership

- Excellent technical competencies with strong track record and a science background - PhD or postdoc required (e.g. in chemistry or applied science)
- Ability to take an objective view of technical problems, address them with creativity and innovation and make sound technical judgements and recommendations
- Ability to understand needs, manage expectations, and deliver on stakeholder commitments
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams
- Knowledge of lubricant industry, formulation or technology development activities would be advantageous but not essential.
