The Role

Estates & Facilities are a very large multidisciplinary team that look after the development, maintenance, safety and security of over 150 buildings across various sites including a wide variety of world class teaching and research facilities, a range of diverse accommodation for over 3500 students across three student villages as well as caring for our beautifully landscaped grounds. We are also the team at the University responsible for catered halls, great food and drink, conferences and events.

We are an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor to support around 60 colleagues who provide portering and cleaning services to the University Main Campus.

We are looking for people who can work within a quality/continuous framework managing changes in operational practice as necessary. The role will require use of resources to deliver a high quality, value for money, flexible and customer focused service.

Key Accountabilities
The regular supervision of teams of Building Facilities teams to ensure optimum use of staff and resources and the maintenance of standards of service at the specified level to ensure excellent in Customer Service
Assist Building Facilities colleagues in their duties to ensure operating standards are maintained at the required level
Selection and recruitment of colleagues to ensure that resource levels are sufficient to complete the duties to the specified standard
Support the University’s aims and objectives by planning, co-ordinating and conducting performance and development reviews (PDR) to maintain and improve team members ‘individual and team performance’
Assist Team Leaders and the Building Facilities Manager in the production of the annual training plan. Write/deliver training packages and ensure consistent standards for training for all staff
Demonstrate due diligence by ensuring your teams comply with statutory Health and Safety regulations and local policies and procedures
Ensure information is exchanged through timely and accurate communication between Building Facilities teams and our customers, both internal and external
Complete and maintain records to ensure colleagues are paid correctly, and all other relevant information regarding their employment is accurately recorded e.g. variance sheets, holiday records
Purchase goods, materials and equipment required to enable the service to operate safely, effectively and efficiently and with due regard to University financial regulations

Good numeracy and literacy skills
Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
Supervisory experience with the ability to monitor performance

Knowledge and understanding of HR Policies and Procedures

**Qualifications**:
NVQ Level 2 in Management or willing to work towards
