The main purpose of the role is to review Problem Solving Plans and provide information, advice and guidance on structured problem solving and the delivery of effective crime prevention initiatives; to support the achievement of force objectives to minimise crime, disorder and antisocial behaviour and protect people from harm utilising problem solving techniques. Work closely with the PSTA and Police Tactical Lead.

**Main Responsibilities**:
Research and review daily policing activity in order to identify opportunities to utilise problem solving techniques. Coordinate activity to problem solve with departments across the organisation.

To work with Partners, Police and PH staff in recognising and developing problem solving plans for rising issues, emerging trends, repeat victims, offenders and complex problems.

Ensure that analytical data is gathered in terms of our highest harm causes and understand the underlying detail as to why problems may occur. Assist in coordinating how PS demand should be dealt with and who is the most appropriate owner (Police, Partner, stakeholder).

To provide support and direction to districts around prevention measures based on recognised themes, emerging trends, and harms. Co-ordinating and assisting evidence based problem solving and prevention approaches.

Ensure that research on prevention measures is consistent with National and International best practice. Share learning on prevention measures and identify what works and what does not work.

Attend internal and external meetings to assist in the coordination of police resources by utilising partnership working, prevention techniques to address hotspots, harm causes, emerging trends and issues of Anti-Social Behaviour.

To coordinate and present case discussion of emerging trends, hotspots, repeat victims, perpetrators, and areas of concern to districts. Thus assisting to embed preventive policing.

Ensure that prevention advice, tactics and interventions are recorded, monitored and shared. Assist in the delivery of a Problem Solving and Prevention Page on the Intranet and training on both disciplines where required.

Ensure performance monitoring is completed around Problem solving and regular audits are completed. Compile performance reports that are presentable to senior staff to inform on quality, benefits, cost benefit, lessons learnt and resources engaged in problem solving and prevention

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.

**Knowledge**:
Educated to A level/ NVQ level 3, or equivalent.

An understanding of Anti-Social Behaviour legislation, legal tools and powers.

An understanding of problem solving in policing.

An Understanding of crime prevention.

**Experience**:
Significant experience of completing administrative tasks within a team environment and prioritising workload

Experience of multi-agency working

Proven experience in working with statutory and voluntary agencies

**Key Skills**:
Competent in the use of Information Technology, including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets and databases and the ability to interrogate computer systems.

Proven ability to communicate both orally and in written form with a wide range of people and groups.

Proven ability to manage staff and prioritise work loads.
