Our Public Sector client based on the Isle of Eigg, requires a Port Assistant on an ad hoc temporary basis to cover sickness and holidays. The pay rate Basic (Standard Hrs) £12.07 per hour and Unsocial Hrs (before 8am or after 7pm) £13.58 per hour. Workingshifts and weekends when required.
**Main purpose of role**:

- Reporting to the Port Manager, you will need a flexible approach to your day-to-day responsibilities. Your duties will include.
- Responsible to the Port / manager for all the duties connected with vessel movements in and out of the relevant Port.
- Secure vessels in accordance with Company procedures
- Ensure car-marshalling activities are conducted in a safe manner
- Ensure safety and control of passengers embarking and disembarking from vessels
- Responsible for the collection of tickets from all passengers and vehicles and ensure tickets are valid for the journey
- Undertake cleaning of office, waiting rooms, toilets and terminal areas to the standards laid down
- Maintain exterior and interior buildings, property, and equipment in accordance with the Company's requirements
- Security of terminal building(s) and waiting room(s)
- Undertake Parcel handling as required
- Conduct treatment of slipways as directed
- Responsible for driving "buggies" on and off vessels and transporting, freight items and ship stores
- Assist in loading, checking, invoicing and manifesting freight items as required
- Undertake freight office duties, collection of cash, invoicing, collection, and distribution of freight Items both incoming and outgoing.
