Healthy Child Programme Safeguarding Support Officer - 37.5 hours -Permanent

This post is positioned within the Children, Young People and Families Integrated Services in Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Trust. The Children, Young People and Families Service operate in localities across Tameside working in partnership to improve the health outcomes of children, young people and their families, contributing to tackling health inequalities by addressing Tameside’s key public health priorities for children.

This post is positioned within the Healthy Child Programme, and includes, child & family focused functions; Health Visiting, Family Nurse Partnership, School Nursing, Cared for Children, Immunisation, National Child Measurement Programme and Enuresis.

The role will work in collaboration with Health Visiting and School Nursing Safeguarding Advisors, acting as the first point of contact supporting coordination of activity for statutory child protection conferences and associated multi agency meetings and associated safeguarding meetings in order to represent and act as an advocate for children and young people within the safeguarding arena

The post-holder will have a pivotal contribution to allow for a child centered approach to safeguarding.

Ensuring there is a coordinated approach to safeguard children allowing Children and families to access the right help at the right time.

The post holder will be responsible for coordinating attendance on behalf of Health Visitors and School Nurses for Safeguarding meetings across the Tameside Locality.

The Support Officer is responsible for a wide range of quality support and administrative functions including data management and tracking of all Children’s safeguarding meeting. The collection, collation, input and quality check of data into health systems is a critical element.

Having the oversight of the team’s data, working with the Health Visitor & School Nursing Safeguarding Advisors to ensure accurate data, dairy management. The post holder will be the first point of contact for multiagency meeting requests and coordination across Health visiting and school nursing, updating colleagues of attendee. Accuracy and timeliness of data inputting and multiple diary management is therefore essential as well as competence with business systems and software packages.

Other elements of the role include support to create and manage resources, liaison with Social care, Police and a wide range of external and internal stakeholders.

To provide a quality, comprehensive high level administrative and clerical support to the Health Visitor & School Nursing Safegarding Advisors.

To coordinate and collate all Child safe guarding meetings, collate attendance matrix and escalate known apologies as per Attendance at safeguarding meeting SOP.

Invite most appropriate health representative to all safeguarding meetings.

To develop a good understanding of the importance of attendance performance review requirements of working together.

To input and quality check data in the Trust information systems.

To prepare and summarise data in preparation for standardised reports.

To support, the development, of publicity and other material.

To provide the team with Expertise and support in the trust information systems.

To manage, telephone and personal contact, Social care and police colleagues, other staff members and external persons with intelligence, foresight and sensitivity, strongly respecting the needs for confidentiality.

To be responsible for sourcing, ordering and managing a range of materials as and when required.

To support, the adherence, of local, administrative and human resource procedures to enable the team to function effectively.

To support any ad hoc administration tasks required by all teams within the School Health Advisor - Vulnerable School Children Team.
