**What is the working practice for this role?**

You might have enjoyed working from home and would like to split your time between there and the office/ other work locations. Others may be eager to return to the office on a more regular basis. We believe that a regular level of in-person contact is an important way to build connections with your colleagues, enhancing knowledge and idea sharing and enabling all of us to benefit from the vibrant office culture Browne Jacobson has to offer.

Our expectation is that, **on average**, you’ll work from home for no more than three days per week, with the remainder of your time either spent with your colleagues in the office or working from other locations as work demands dictate, e.g. courts, client offices, conferences etc. This is an average expectation over time and we know that there will be variations from week to week. Equally, there will be individual circumstances in which a different pattern of work is needed, for example as an agreed reasonable adjustment for colleagues with a disability or long-term medical condition.

- **Why is this role important and how does it fit into the team, department and wider firm?**

Advising our clients in the insurance sector (insurers, brokers, MGAs and other intermediaries) on commercial and regulatory issues, including working and advising on their insurance products (policy wordings and associated documents). Although the role is predominantly to serve our clients in the insurance sector, some clients may sit in the wider regulated financial services sector.

**What does the role actually involve?**Advising on and drafting insurance policy wordings and associated documents (e.g. statements of fact, product literature, sales journeys, underwriting guides etc.)
- Advising insurers and intermediaries on their regulatory requirements in relation to the distribution of insurance products (e.g. compliance with IDD, ICOBs etc.)
- Drafting and advising on the compliance and regulatory aspects of commercial agreements, such as TOBAs, binders, distribution agreements, marketing agreements and similar documents
- Undertaking compliance and regulatory due diligence on behalf of brokers in the course of their acquisitions, to ensure that any compliance issues with the target are identified and, where required, resolved
- Assisting the firm’s Corporate Finance team in relation to transactions involving regulated firms
- Assisting with routine compliance and regulatory enquiries from regulated clients in the insurance market
- Assisting with investigations by regulators
- Inputting into claims and policy coverage disputes from time-to-time, particularly when involving a regulatory / compliance issue (such as claims against insurance brokers)
