The postholder will promote quality improvement across the organisation building a social movement and within the ICS as a partner. With a focus on reducing variation in practice and inequalities in service delivery you will lead and deliver this through well designed multi professionally led interventions. The postholder will focus improvement activity on four key aims which enhance patient experience, improve population health, reduce costs, and improve the work life of health care providers.

In collaboration with Quality Improvement, Organisational Development and Patient Safety partners the Head of QI will be responsible for promoting, developing, and delivering an improvement capacity and capability building strategy for the Nottinghamshire ICS.

The role will also be expected to partner and work closely with Patient Safety, Quality Assurance functions Associate Directors of Nursing and AHPs, Psychological Professions and Clinical Directors, Deputy Divisional Directors and have an active collaborative relationship with the clinical divisions.

The Head of Quality Improvement will lead a multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for the Design Collaborative Huddle (DCH), providing knowledge, systems, and support to develop the organisational improvement capacity, capability, and delivery across NHCFT and the wider ICS community.

This will require a systems leadership approach, developing strong networks and fostering inclusive collaboration across all levels of the organisation both vertically and horizontally with a focus on point of care staff, support functions, patients, and carers. The role will ensure that QI will be built into all aspects of our NHS delivery as ‘the way we do things’ through social and taught learning whilst ensuring each change project undertaken by the Trust is underpinned by the accepted QI methods and evaluation processes.

- Knowledge of health service management, including strong change management skills.
- Develop and lead implementation of long-term strategies on identifying and addressing the factors limiting quality improvement.
- Using specialist quality improvement and science knowledge and expertise based upon model for improvement, to lead work at a variety of levels within the organisation.
- Provide leadership to large scale change programmes such as improving patient flow and addressing performance and service issues.
