Following retirement of the current postholder, we are looking for a forward thinking, experienced and ambitious quality professional to join us as our head of Quality. You must have excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and an ability to problem solve and implement change in a highly regulated environment.

Main duties of the job

The Head of Quality is responsible for providing a Quality Assurance/Quality Control service to the Pharmacy Production units at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) and a number of other NHS and commercial clients.

The post holder is responsible for monitoring all licensable activities and ensuring compliance with GMP and will be named on all relevant Manufacturers and Investigational Medicinal Product Licences, as the person Responsible for Quality. The Head of Quality is responsible for the management of the dedicated purpose built Quality Control Laboratories (chemistry and microbiology) and its team of 15-20 Quality Control and Quality Assurance staff.

Following appropriate training, the role also involves testing of piped medical gas systems and the inclusion on the NHS register for QC (MGPS).

The MHRA licensed Sterile Production Unit, Non-Sterile Manufacturing Unit and Pharmacy Packing Unit are based at the Queens Medical Centre Campus. The unlicensed Cytotoxic Chemotherapy Production Unit is based at the City Hospital Campus.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
- Registered (or able to register) with the appropriate professional bodies
- Able to act as a Releasing Officer

Experience

Essential criteria
- Extensive experience in Pharmaceutical QC/QA or production to include acting as a releasing officer, quality management systems and regulatory audits
- Experience in supervision and management of staff

Desirable criteria
- Experience in medical gas testing

Communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria
- Able to effectively communicate to others including staff, licensing authorities and prospective customers verbally
- Excellent written communications needed for technical and managerial reports to senior personnel

Analytical and judgment skills

Essential criteria
- Able to utilise knowledge of GMP, and Regulatory guidelines to be able to advise clients and pharmacy managers on all aspects of Quality Assurance.
- Able to use Professional judgement when considering release of product and when problem solving managerially or technically
- Thorough and accurate work required for review of laboratory results and batch documentation prior to release or rejection of the product.

- Evidence of developing skills to manage own workload and that of own teams when required

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
