Reed Community Care provides high quality person centred care to vulnerable people in the comfort of their homes. Our support is personalised to advocate for our clients’ needs and wants while encouraging independence and community engagement and maintainingthe dignity of our clients.

We have an opportunity for experienced female support workers to join an existing team of carers for our client who is a gentle woman in her forties living with her parents in Forest Gate. She is interested in music, fashion, clothes and jewellery, televisionand films and enjoys going out to the cinema and to the park with her carers. She also holds a degree and although she is non-verbal she can communicate through gestures and really enjoys listening to her carers talk about their interests, travelling, activites andcurrent events. She likes carers to read stories to her.

Our client has tetraplegia, multiple sclerosis, severe limb weakness, eye movement disorder and dysphagia. Her carers will help with washing, showering, brushing teeth, enema care, peg feed and suctioning, hoisting, transferring and administering medication.Our client is also high risk concerning Covid 19 as she is prone to chest infections and being hospitalised. Following current government guidelines and infection control practices and wearing PPE at all times is imperative.

This will be a temporary position paying £10.75 per hour. Week day and weekend hours available from 8.00 - 13.00, 16.00 - 20.00 and 8.00 - 16.00. We also offer paid annual leave.

Main Duties and Key Responsibilities:

- Working as part of a team to ensure the safety and well-being of the client
- Hoisting and transferring
- Personal care twice daily
- Enema Care three times per week
- Physiotherapy and exercise routine
- Brushing teeth
- Peg feed and suctioning
- Liaising with the district nurse and medical professionals
- Medication administration and completing MAR charts
- Arranging and attending medical and dental appointments
- Monitoring for signs of decline in health and escalating concerns immediately
- Keeping daily records

We offer regular supervisions to monitor your progress, annual Mandatory Training and you will have access to a personaldevelopment fund to upgrade your skills in an area of your choice. You will be joining a friendly, supportive team.

Due to the nature of this role an enhanced DBS check will be performed and we require three years of references. Being on the DBS update service is desirable but not essential.
