Devon Wildlife Trust (DWT) is Devon’s leading wildlife conservation charity, with over 36,000 members, 350 regular volunteers, 100 staff and 63 nature reserves. We are one of the larger locally based organisations that collectively make up The Wildlife Trusts. DWT has pioneered the reintroduction of beavers in England and the restoration of internationally rare habitats like Culm Grassland.

This is a unique, developmental opportunity for a good problem solver, networker and energetic individual to co-ordinate DWT’s response to BNG across the organisation. You’ll need an understanding of the planning system, BNG and habitat creation, as well as being numerate and have good written and project management skills. You will be a central point of contact for teams across DWT working with developers, landowners, ecologists, surveyors, nature reserves staff and beaver sites.

This role will help to shape the delivery of BNG in Devon, establish appropriate governance and resources within DWT and start to implement projects on the ground.

We are offering the post on a full-time or part-time, fixed term basis, contractually based at Cricklepit Mill, Exeter.

This is initially offered as a fixed term contract, but it is anticipated that once BNG and associated funding are embedded this will become a permanent post. The length of the initial fixed term contract will be determined by the working hours, so, for example for 0.8 FTE (4 days per week), the post would be fixed term for one year.
