**Job Description.**

The Folk of Gloucester is looking for an enterprising Café Manager/ Supervisor to join us at the beginning of our mission to reawaken the Folk and give people the opportunity to enjoy the building, gardens and our beautiful licensed café and bar.

This person would need to:

- Help to plan an irresistible catering and refreshment offer for our much-loved café and events spaces. Including buffets and treats for our beautiful meeting and conference suite.
- Run the daily café operation including food and drink preparation, cleaning and making sure the service areas are ready.
- Source local ingredients or work with local suppliers to make our café a must visit destination.
- Have the ability to open and run a temporary events bar when required.
- Maintain supplies and reduce waste where possible.
- Train volunteers and colleagues on drink and food preparation and presentation and proper use of coffee equipment
- or be prepared to learn and then inform others.
- Maintain records and update income and expenses.
- Nurture a friendly relationship with customers and stakeholders. The Folk is in the heart of the Westgate Community as well as the city and everyone will be welcome. An interest in local history and a passion for Gloucester will be an advantage.
- Make sure the café operates safely and adheres to all regulations.
- Be able to manage a team as the business grows.
- Be involved in the development of The Folk and deputise for the manager including keyholding, opening and closing.
- Assist with the administration of The Folk of Gloucester
- including administrative tasks, financial report preparation, marketing and advertising.
- Be prepared to assist with Civic Trust Events and activities as required.

Person Specification.
- Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Maths grade C/ 5 or above.
- Customer Service Qualifications or Experience.
- Previous catering or hospitality experience.
- Catering qualification or the ability to cook.
- Be a personal license holder or prepared to be one.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the daily operations of the cafe, including food preparation, serving customers, and maintaining cleanliness
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting guests in a friendly and professional manner
- Take customer orders and process payments accurately
- Upsell menu items and promote special offers to maximize sales
- Ensure food safety standards are followed during food preparation and storage
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including restocking supplies as needed
- Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of orders
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints promptly

**Experience**:

- Previous experience in a cafe or hospitality setting is preferred but not required
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills is a plus
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for cash handling and inventory management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide exceptional guest services

**Salary**: £20,000.00-£22,000.00 per year
