YMCA DownsLink Group Dialogue Therapeutic & Family Services offers counselling services for children and young people with physical disabilities, behavioural, social, and emotional difficulties, autism and learning difficulties. The team delivers a multi-modality therapeutic service working with 2 - 24-year-olds experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. We work closely with CAMHs, the local authority and a range of voluntary and community sector organisations to deliver effective short-term therapeutic interventions.

The postholder will be expected to work within an established Dialogue School Counselling Team as a **Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner**, alongside the existing Dialogue School Counsellor enabling the development and delivery of recovery-oriented care. This includes facilitating group or individual sessions (face to face) and delivering specific evidence based psychosocial interventions within the scope of qualification. Working closely with the existing Dialogue School Counsellor to continue the provision of a high quality, ethical service to the students. This will include undertaking assessments with students, agreeing a regular session schedule with the school and completing all associated admin in a timely manner. In delivering the role, you will put service users’ needs at the heart of the job, keeping people safe, contributing to effective interventions, and responding compassionately to suffering.

**This role is based on site, Monday to Wednesday. Shift pattern to be discussed at interview.**

You will have a professional, flexible attitude with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage your time well. You will be confident in identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns and have experience of working with children and young people. You will already have experience in the delivery of evidence based short-term LIPI interventions to children and young people including working with complexity and risk.

Additionally, you will have a Graduate or Post Graduate level Counselling Diploma of 2 years minimum duration including personal counselling or psychotherapy, and BACP Accreditation/eligibility for accreditation or BACP Registration or be accredited with other relevant professional bodies (UKCP/HCP). You will also have a sound understanding of child protection and vulnerable adult safeguarding issues, policies and procedures.
