We have an exciting new post for a band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. The Adult Neurodevelopmental Service works with clients with a learning disability and covers the beautiful North Derbyshire area. This post will include community and day centre visits as well as working from home and from the base at Ash Green.

This role includes working with adults with a learning disability who may have co-occurring conditions such as ADHD, Autism, Cerebral Palsy or Dementia, creating a varied and interesting job role.

We are a small, friendly and supportive team of Speech and Language Therapists who keep in regular contact with each other. As a member of the team you will have access to regular caseload and clinical supervision, plus an annual appraisal that supports you to plan and achieve goals from your own Personal Development Plan. There are opportunities to explore different specialist areas within the learning disability team and continue your professional development by shadowing others and attending training courses or clinical excellent networks.

As a team we work with people with a learning disability over the age of 18 years. We take a person centred approach and our focus is to provide high quality communication and dysphagia assessment and intervention to our clients (and support those closest to them).

You will be working as part of a Multidisciplinary Team alongside Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Counsellors, Therapy Assistants, Psychiatrists, Carers and Family Members.

As a band 5 you will hold your own clinical caseload and work both as a team and independently. Knowledge and skills in learning disabilities is advantageous. You should have willingness to enhance your skills in dysphagia management.

Our purpose is to provide community health services to a patient population of over one million people in Derbyshire and Derby, as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire.

We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes and, increasingly, in people’s own homes and via virtual consultations.

During the pandemic response, we have led the implementation of public vaccination centres in collaboration with partners across health and social care.

The Adult Neurodevelopmental Service works with adults with a learning disability and/or autism. This role will be within the learning disability community team working mainly in client's houses and day centres. This job offers opportunities for close multi-disciplinary working.
