The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS FT are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic experienced Podiatrist to be part of a 12-month advanced level training post. This post will focus on supporting you to develop the (NHS - Health Education England) 4 pillars of Advanced clinical Practice (Clinical, Leadership, Education and research), with a special emphasis on research and high risk wound care in an orthopaedic setting.

You must have sufficient experience as a Podiatrist within a musculoskeletal speciality. Previous experience of working at a band 7/ Advanced Podiatrist level and musculoskeletal injection training is helpful for the position, but not essential

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- With direct / indirect supervision, be responsible for providing autonomous advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with Foot & Ankle conditions working in an Advanced Level Practitioner role.
- Complete appropriate training and competencies to gain the authority to:

- Order further investigations (e.g. X-ray, MRI, CT scan).
- Manage high risk wounds in outpatients’ clinics
- Follow up on results of investigations / specialist tests as required.
- Develop the knowledge to be able to act as a source of expertise on the management of complex Foot & Ankle pathologies to Primary Health Care professionals, Consultants, Senior Physiotherapists, and other Health Care Professionals.
- To support the Foot & Ankle research strategy, with the guidance of senior clinicians / Orthopaedic Surgeons (including co-ordinating data collection, & assisting in publishing research).

**MAIN DUTIES**:
Clinical
- To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work including the management of patient care in the triage clinics. To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management and support senior clinicians and junior staff and to do likewise.
- To develop the knowledge to act as an
- Advanced Practice Podiatric Practitioner in the Foot & Ankle Clinics.
- Expert in high risk wound care in the Foot & Ankle Clinics
- To communicate with and provide highly specialist advice and training to Podiatry Staff, Physiotherapy staff, Consultants, GP’s, and other Health Care Professionals on the management of patients with Foot & Ankle conditions to ensure a co-ordinated and seamless service within clinics.
- To undertake a comprehensive advanced assessment of highly complex patients referred to the Foot & Ankle clinics using analytical skills and manual assessment techniques to determine a clinical diagnosis, as an autonomous practitioner, with support from a supervisor.
- With support from a supervisor, formulate individual management and treatment plans for Foot & Ankle patients; this may encompass referral to areas outside Foot & Ankle/ Podiatry
- Evaluate and modify treatment plans according to patient needs, discharging them when appropriate. Seek advice from others when necessary and work without direct supervision.
- To develop and maintain skills required to practice at an advanced level and with support from a supervisor, to use an Advanced Level of practice (including referral for further investigations x-rays, MRI scans and blood tests).
