DLUHC is responsible for some of the most high-profile issues across Government, including ensuring everyone has access to a safe, secure and affordable home; regenerating towns and high streets; and supporting local government to deliver vital services.

The Housing, Markets & Strategy Directorate sits at the heart of DLUHC’s Regeneration Group, working with our housing, planning and regeneration directorates. The Directorate is responsible for some of the most high-profile issues across Government, including delivering the homes the country needs and supporting the housing sector through the current economic climate. The Guarantees Team sit within the Housing Supply and Markets Division which is a friendly division that works across Government and with ministers/SpAds in DLUHC to help ensure we deliver the homes the country needs.

**Job description**:
The New Guarantees Policy Lead would work with colleagues to develop guarantee and investment related financial instruments, working with policy colleagues to understand requirements, and with cross-Whitehall colleagues to scope, shape and bring to realisation interventions that can progress or complement Departmental policies. The Government develops financial instruments to facilitate lending to support a range of housing developments - these interventions support several different policy interventions, from supporting SME housebuilders to the delivery of affordable homes. DLUHC currently has 4 guarantee schemes in operation, totalling £11bn.

**Person specification**:

- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners, across grades, teams, and professions.
- Ability to work collaboratively, including with a range of partners.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to convey complex issues in a simple and accurate way.
- Ability to take the lead to solve problems in a positive and collaborative way
- Ability to undertake internal due diligence activities - this will include the development of business case proposals for new interventions and the guidance of these through the Departmental approvals process.
- This role also requires strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.
