Job Introduction
The 5 Live commissioning team are responsible for creating some of the biggest and most award-winning podcasts in the UK. Working closely with BBC Sport and BBC News, we collaborate with the indie sector to commission a wide slate of podcasts encompassing narrative storytelling, investigative journalism, topical entertainment and sport. Current examples include: Gangster, I’m Not A Monster, Moment of Truth, Match of the Day, Footballers Football Podcast, Stacey Dooley’s Fresh Starts, and Wheel of Misfortune. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Commissioning Editor to join the commissioning team to work on this high-performing slate.

Main Responsibilities
The Commissioning Editor will manage a broad slate of podcasts in a range of genres, including narrative storytelling, investigative journalism, topical entertainment and sport. They will use strategic oversight to bring together the commissioning team, indie colleagues, internal partners, and emerging talent, to deliver stories that deliver high impact audio for Sounds which reflects the BBC’s across the UK agenda and attract underserved, opportunity audiences.
