**Residential Childcare Practitioner - Wiston**

**£25,172 to £28,416 per annum pro rata, plus OT**

**The Greenleaf Team**

We’re looking for people to join our team that share our beliefs. We believe in a holistic approach: that even the smallest detail can mean a world of difference to a vulnerable young person. We want team members who never give up on our young people, who are compassionate and who believe that our young people deserve the best we can give them.

If it’s your ambition to create a future filled with hope and optimism for our young people, then get in touch.

Greenleaf provides a home for young people not a children’s home. We believe that greatness starts small: it’s the little things that make an enormous difference both for our young people and our team. Our primary aim is to create an environment of constant warmth, predictability and responsiveness to need, with the opportunity for our young people to experience new models of adult/child and peer group relationships. It is our belief that, in these new relationships, young people can experience conflict with positive rather than negative resolutions.

If you’re selected to become part of the Greenleaf family, you’ll not only enjoy a salary that’s higher that the sector average, but you’ll also enjoy other benefits, such as pension and a generous holiday entitlement. Being a part of the Greenleaf family will give you the opportunity to work within a close-knit team in an environment where your skills and experience can be developed, while also leaving a positive impact on young peoples’ lives. You will also benefit from receiving our industry-leading training, which includes therapies training, covering areas such as mindfulness, reflexology and drawing & talking therapy.

**Specific Duties and Responsibilities**
- To provide care and support to our children and young people in accordance with policies and procedures and participate in a mindful teamwork approach to childcare practice
- To contribute to the assessment process for young people and be involved with on-going support programmes in conjunction with other key employees
- To ensure positive support to children and young people when they are concerned or distressed

- To participate in on-going training as directed for the maintenance and development of relevant skills for the proper delivery of the duties of a Residential Practitioner
- To implement de-escalation and physical intervention strategies as necessary and appropriate in line with mandatory training
- Promote young peoples’ participation, to ensuring young people are actively involved in the environment and day to day activities of the home
- To comply with the code of conduct as require by the SSSC
- To be fully aware of safeguarding and child protection issues
- To fully understand the reporting process of child protection within the home
- To understand the principals of safeguarding young people, staff and self
- To have a full understanding of the emergency call out procedures of the house
- To promote structure, boundaries and domestic routines within the house
- Participate in, and complete records for statutory reviews and meetings concerning the young people were required
- Undertake relevant training programmes as required by the Company, SSSC & National Care Standards and be responsive to own personal development
- Contribute to the maintenance of a safe, hygienic and clean environment

The nature of residential work is varied and, in many instances, unpredictable. All staff are therefore expected to work in a flexible way and tasks that have not been covered in the job description have to be undertaken.

At all times the Residential Childcare Practitioner is expected to conduct themselves professionally and adhere to Greenleaf Policies and Procedures, and that to achieve this they will successfully complete induction and ongoing training.
