Cancer Network Care Group Chief of Service

An exciting new opportunity has been created for a Cancer Network Care Group Chief of Service (Clinical).

There couldn’t be a more exciting time to join our newly formed Group.

This is a senior clinical leadership role in our new organisation taking forward the responsibilities of our cancer monitoring and improvement program. We are looking for an experienced senior clinician from a cancer specialty who can drive improvement in our cancer delivery and performance through clinical engagement and specialist leadership. The Care Group has a budget of c£1.3 million and whole time equivalent of staff of 34 who all work dedicated to the delivery of our cancer services across our new healthcare group. You will have direct contact with the Integrated Care Board Cancer Alliance and will take responsibility for some regional and specialist service developments.

As a member of the triumvirate/Quadrumvirate team leading the Care group, the Care Group Chief of Service will have line management responsibility for the Care Group Operations Director and Care Group Nurse Director, who are jointly responsible for Care Groups overall efficient, effective and compassionate leadership, management and performance.

The Care Group Chief of Service will be accountable to the Site Managing Director for the operational performance and strategic development of their Care group. This will include accountability for high quality patient care, patient safety, clinical quality and governance, the delivery of agreed performance and financial objectives, and ensuring that the Care group operates with the needs of patients as its highest priority.

The Care Group Chief of Service is accountable for ensuring that the Care Group operates fully within the overall objectives and policies of the Group and within the agreed planned objectives, targets, quality standards, and control/resource constraints.

The Care Group Chief of Service will have responsibility for the budget and a fundamental part of the role is the delegation of responsibility for delivery of each of the Care Group accountabilities.

The Care Group Chief of Service will ensure delivery of all agreed NHS Constitution Commitments with the services and delivery of all targets for performance.
