**Domestic Abuse Support and Advocacy Worker - Echo Project**

Work will be under a hybrid model working from the Echo Project offices in Hereford, Clients homes, in the community and from home.

Role Description

WMWA is looking to recruit an experienced Support and Advocacy Worker to work within a team whose focus is

1) To work with families on the edge of care where there is a risk of family relationships breaking down to prevent the child from moving into the care system

2) To prepare the family and child for the child’s return to the family/extended family in order to prevent the child returning into the care system
- approach.

More specifically the role involves;
- Support and advocacy for the adult victims of domestic abuse
- Delivery of interventions as part of a ‘whole family approach’
- Delivery of specific support for children and young people
- Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
- Service development
- Working collaboratively to facilitate joint working
- Working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary approach to support

We are looking for someone who has;
- At least 3 years’ experience of advocacy and support work with vulnerable people
- Experience of delivering one-to-one intensive support both face-to-face and remotely
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary setting
- Excellent active listening skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including completion of electronic forms and recording of data
- Good IT skills
- Ability to work co-operatively with other practitioners in an interagency context
- Ability to organise own workload and respond to unplanned demands
- Ability to work as part of a support team, providing a cohesive and comprehensive service to users with a wide range of needs
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision on a day-to-day basis, within agreed schedules and guidelines
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse issues and the needs of women and children affected by it
- Knowledge of safeguarding children processes and practice
- Working knowledge of benefits and legal assistance available to women seeking freedom from domestic abuse, including housing, civil law and criminal justice processes
